Device management

Every device ready from the factory, and kept current in the field.

Each device is recorded in your inventory and gets its own keys and first credentials before it ships. In the field it is onboarded in bulk, watched online and offline, and updated with encrypted, signed firmware, device by device.

Readings on this page are sample data.

Devices that leave the factory with no identity

The settingReady from the factory

At manufacturing, each device is entered in your inventory and gets its keys from your own certificate authority, with a temporary credential. At first boot it trades that for its own credentials, so nobody types a password in on site.

A fix that has to reach every unit, safely

The settingEncrypted, signed updates, device by device

Target one device, a product line or a group. Each firmware image is encrypted and signed, sent in chunks that resume where they stopped, and each device's update is tracked; stop a release at any time.

A device goes quiet, or goes missing

The settingWhy it dropped, and cut off at once

Can we use our own certificate authority?

Yes. Each customer runs its own certificate authority, generated for you or brought from your own PKI.

What happens to a device that's lost or stolen?

Revoke its certificate and it is off the network at once.

Can a firmware release be stopped?

Yes, at any time. Each device's update is tracked, and devices that were offline pick it up when they're back.
